In 2015, Designform was approached by Facility Management at UA to transform Building 440, which was previously designated as the Working Men’s Dorm.

As architect and project manager, Designform lead the team of engineers and building envelope specialists    that would grant this piece of history new life and purpose as the Print and Mail Services facility for the entire University.

Space planning and design to transform this 48,000 sf, 75 year old classical structure into a state-of-the-art facility, would be no small task.  Commencing with an extensive asbestos abatement, Building 440 was dismantled to her strong, sturdy bones and sustained demolition of rear addition to fuse the flanking east and west wings to maximize the building footprint.
